Oatmeal With Caramelised Pear

Oatmeal with caramelised pear is something that I look forward to eat in the morning. This may sound funny but I get excited over good breakfast.

It is hard to believe that these little grains that are also abundantly available are so high on nutrients and are packed with fiber, protein and minerals.

This easy recipe of oatmeal with caramelised pear is not only very presentable but is also very tasty and high on nutrients. My pantry is always packed with oats, since I eat them at least once a day. It is either for breakfast, lunch, dinner or some sort of dessert.

I often mix my vegan protein with oats and make a quick dessert when I crave something sweet, and the options are unending. Incorporating more oats into my diet happened when I started going to the gym regularly. I started educating myself on food and what can serve me best on my fitness journey.

Oatmeal With Caramelised Pear

Why oats?

As I have already mentioned, oats have great nutritional value and are high on dietary fiber, protein and vitamins. They are also low on saturated fat and sodium.

Oats can also be very beneficial for weight management. They are high on fiber so they make you feel full for a very long time. I personally had lot of craving before and I realised I am consuming way more calories than I needed because of these cravings.

Breaking my fast by eating oats also helped me a lot with controlling my glucose level spikes. There are so many benefits that I can spend hours writing about. But I suggest that you definitely read more on these amazing energy food and you will be convinced if you already are not.

The essential ingredients:

– 1 cup rolled oats

– 2 cups any vegan milk  

– 1 tsp cinnamon powder 

– 1 tsp chia seeds 

– 1 tsp flaxseed 

– 1 pear (cut in half)

– Dash of coconut oil or butter

– 1 tbsp maple syrup or stevia (optional)

Instructions to make oatmeal with caramelised pear :

1- In a saucepan bring the water of milk to boil, over medium heat and add the oats.

2- Reduce the heat to low and add the cinnamon, chia and flaxseeds and stir on low heat, let it simmer for 5 minutes. (if you cook longer you will get creamier texture)

3- Remove from the heat and sweeten your oatmeal with either maple syrup or stevia (try to avoid refined sugar)

4- Caramelise the pear in a dash of coconut oil or vegan butter, add a table spoon of maple syrup and on medium heat fry both sides until they turn golden brown.

5- Serve the oatmeal in a bowl and add the caramalised pear and your favourite seeds on top and enjoy your warm and comforting bowl of oatmeal.
