Tahini Chocolate Raspberry Bites

Tahini chocolate raspberry bites are these super healthy and delicious combination that can be enjoyed guilt free. Raspberries are in season and we want to make something that is delicious but also healthy, I suggest you try this super tasty bites.

Tahini is one of those ingredients that I always have in my kitchen because of its excellent source of nutrients. It has its origins in the Middle East and Mediterranean, where it has been a main ingredient for centuries.

Tahini can be used for both savory and sweet dishes. In the ancient Egypt sesame seeds were used to make a paste called “sesame sweet”.

So for this recipe we will use both tahini and dark chocolate. By the way tahini is very nutrient rich and is a great source of protein, healthy fats and fiber.

Antioxidants: the main ingredient in tahini is sesame seeds and they have sesamol and sesamin in them abundantly which is a great source of antioxidants.

Protein: When I went vegan I was constantly researching different types of plant based protein sources. Later, I realised that it is actually not that hard and it is only a matter of having few ingredients at home and use them daily. Tahini is one of them and I consume it almost daily and mainly for breakfast.

It is a great a source of plant based protein with essential amino acids for muscle repair and growth. It contains 17 grams of protein per 100 grams.

Now lets have some sweet talk…

Dark Chocolate or cacao powder: In this recipe you can go for either or, however, whichever you choose will work really well. The health benefits are no secret here, again cacao powder is a great source of antioxidants and rich in minerals such as magnesium, iron and potassium.

Raspberries: these heavenly fruits are something that I can never get enough of, berries in general should be part of our daily intake in my humble opinion.

Ingredients:

easy and simple, let’s get the following

– 3/4 cups of melted dark chocolate or cacao powder dissolved in vegan milk

-2 cups of fresh raspberries

-1/2 cup of tahini

-pistachio for the filling (optional but I highly recommend it)

How to make these tahini chocolate raspberry bites

1. Line a baking sheet or a tray with parchment paper.

2. Thoroughly wash the raspberries and pat them dry. This is a delicate work but its also very enjoyable, I can promise you that. Fill the raspberries with pistachios, one by one.

3. In a microwave safe bowl melt your dark chocolate, or if you will use cacao powder you can do it on a stove. Mix the powder with vegan milk until you get a consistency of a melted chocolate.

4. The first coat will be with the tahini, you can also use toothpick to hold the raspberries and dip them in the tahini, submerging it fully. let any excess to drip off and place them on the baking sheet.

5. Time for the raspberries to go in the freezer for few hours until the first coat is firm. Now the next step.

6. Once the tahini coat is firm, take them out of the freezer and repeat the process again, but this time with the melted chocolate (room temperature). Fully submerge the berries in the dark chocolate and place them on a baking sheet and put them back in the freezer again.

These delicious and visually appealing treat will be one of your repeating recipes. You can always get creative by using different types of chocolates or add different toppings but this this my favourite way to make it and I hope you will enjoy it as much as i did.
